A Notary Public is an officer appointed by the Isle of Man Court who is authorised to authenticate and certify signatures and documents for use abroad by notarisation of a document. Examples of when a notarial certificate may be required includes the witnessing of signatures on powers of attorney in relation to property abroad, swearing statutory statements or affidavits or confirming a passport.
A further certificate of authenticity known as an “apostille certificate” may also be required from the Isle of Man Courts to confirm the signature, seal, or stamp of a Notary on a document. An apostille certificate can be provided on a standard 2-day turnaround or a premium 90 minutes service through the Courts.
