DQ is helping a local cast ‘Climb Ev’ry Mountain’ as Principal Sponsor of Douglas Choral Union’s production of The Sound of Music.
Considered one of the best musicals of all time, the much-loved story focuses on the Von Trapp family home following the arrival of new governess, Maria Rainer. The classic musical score, by Rodgers and Hammerstein, features a number of timeless songs including ‘Do-Re-Mi’, ‘Edelweiss’ and ‘My Favourite Things’.
Managing Director Mark Dougherty commented: ‘We are proud to be Principal Sponsor of this hugely popular musical, which will no doubt delight the Island’s theatre goers with its heart-warming story and songs. This will be our 11th consecutive year of support for Douglas Choral Union and the thriving arts scene here, and we’re pleased to continue to do so.’
Chairman of Douglas Choral Union, Tony Jones, said: ‘We’re so grateful for DQ’s ongoing commitment to supporting our productions. The Sound of Music is popular the world over and has certainly stood the test of time, having been first shown nearly 55 years ago.
‘Our wonderful local cast and crew is rehearsing hard and looking forward to “yodel-ay-hee-hoo”’.
The show will take place at the Gaiety Theatre from this Friday, February 14th – 22nd 2020. Tickets are available from the VillaGaiety Box Office on 600555 or villagaiety.com.
