DQ welcomes Chloe Convery

DQ is delighted to welcome Chloe Convery to the firm. Chloe has joined as a Paralegal after finishing university. Many of our clients tell us they want to know more about the DQ team.  In response to this we sat down with Chloe to ask her a few questions about her experience to date and what she hopes for the future.

Where did you study?

I studied LLB Law at the University of Chester, graduating Valedictorian for outstanding contribution to the Law School. During my time at university I was a speaker at TEDxUoChester 2020 and a finalist for Future Legal Mind in 2019. I was part of the yoga society, Student Representatives, and made my mark establishing the Chester Community Law Project with some great friends. Chester was a lovely city to live in and I very quickly felt at home, but I couldn’t wait to get back to Island life.

What are you doing now?

I am now working as a Paralegal within DQ’s corporate and dispute resolution departments, as well as studying part-time towards the Legal Practice Course and a Master of Laws in Professional Legal Practice. I am studying remotely with the University of Law, which means I can work and gain valuable experience alongside my studies. DQ are really supportive of my choice to continue studying, which takes a lot of pressure off trying to balance everything.

Why DQ?

I completed work experience with DQ as part of my Work Based Learning module at university. I was able to gain an insight into what the different teams do and understand the types of matter that DQ works on, as well as attend court and observe client meetings. A hot topic for conversation is often post-university plans, so it soon became known that I intended to return to the Island to continue studying and eventually qualify as an advocate. From there, I was lucky enough to get a job offer that aligned perfectly with my career path, I would’ve been daft to say no to such an incredible team!

What do you do in your spare time?

I love being around family and friends, so I’m usually enjoying food and films with people or making the most of the Manx scenery if the weather is good. I also enjoy going to the gym, but sometimes a Netflix binge is much more appealing!

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Qualified and practicing as an advocate – although the specialism is yet to be determined. Corporate law had my heart, but the variety and expertise at DQ have opened my eyes up to a whole host of new interests which I look forward to exploring over the years to come.

What’s something not many people know about you?

I was once on CBBC Newsround talking about costal erosion – I’m no expert, I just live by the sea!

What are you most excited for in your career?

Helping people – if you’re seeking legal advice then chances are you have a problem that needs solving. Helping people work out what they need or how to reach an end goal is a hugely rewarding factor for me, and the reason I got into law.
