DQ’s top-ranked aviation team has been attending CJI, which is regarded as the leading conference in the business aviation industry, since its inception six years ago and enjoyed another busy and thought-provoking two days at the event. DQ was represented by director and head of the aviation team Stephen Dougherty and associate Matthew Kinrade.
Over 500 industry professionals heard speakers from all sectors of the industry and discussed the important issues affecting the business aviation market. Whilst the overall mood of CJI was positive, note was made of the potential for a downturn in the market, as demonstrated by Bombardier’s recent decision to cut 1,000 jobs in Northern Ireland (announced shortly after CJI).
Discussions concerning how best to combat any downturn were passionate, with the rise in fractional ownership and ongoing success of Wheels-Up and similar business models being highlighted as real opportunities for growth.
Delegates were presented with the Corporate Jet Investor Guide to Aircraft Registration, which features a chapter on the hugely successful Isle of Man Aircraft Registry (the “Registry”) written by DQ’s Stephen Dougherty.
EBACE is the single most important event in the business aviation industry calendar, with over 13,000 industry professionals from around the world attending Geneva’s Palexpo from 24 to 26 May 2016.
EBACE brings together business leaders, government officials, manufacturers, flight department personnel and people involved in every aspect of business aviation. DQ will be represented at EBACE by director and head of the aviation team Stephen Dougherty and associate Matthew Kinrade, who will be meeting existing aviation clients, promoting the Registry and the Isle of Man generally and keeping up to date with industry developments.
DQ’s aviation team, which is top ranked by Legal 500 , advises many of the world’s leading aircraft lenders, managers, fiduciaries and owners on using the Registry and related transactions. DQ also advises on BVI law and ownership structures.
