Alexander Armstrong
Associate
Alexander is an Associate within the Dispute Resolution department, and qualified as a Manx Advocate in 2017.
Alexander has a diverse practice and experience in a broad range of commercial litigation. Alexander is developing a busy commercial and chancery practice with a particular interest in contractual disputes, debt recovery, personal injury, landlord and tenant disputes, corporate insolvency and the enforcement of foreign judgments. Alexander has acted for a range of clients, including trustees, high net worth individuals, insolvency practitioners and Island based and international companies.
Alexander is presently Chairman of the Isle of Man Young Lawyers’ Association, and has previously been awarded the Isle of Man Law Society’s George Johnson Law Prize, winning the honour with an essay entitled “Will advocates and judges be replaced by computer-based services in the future?”.
Some notable cases in which Alexander has recently acted in include:
- Magee & Co v Sartfell Eduation & Otr – Successfully defending an application for strike-out/summary judgment in a construction dispute.
- Isle of Man FSA v Montpelier – Acting for the manager and receiver of Montpelier in successfully obtaining a declaration by the Court as to the effective date of his appointment and scope of his powers.
